Jedi Padawan

It’s basically just a preliminary sketch, just to get an idea of the basic lines. . . Any suggestions? I was thinking the hair to be something like a darker brown — the shading on the bangs is something like turquoise I think. The padawan braid is ombre and fades to the same shade by the tips. Oi, the lightsaber was soooo fun to draw! The three sections near the top are leather wraps, the outer shaft is engraved with floral designs, and the inner shaft is a darker metal that matches the engravings. (The diamond was the first part I did! It basically inspired the whole thing!

Star Wars/ medieval fan art by Kitten for The Elven Padawan. No stealing! Star Wars belongs to Disney! (One of these days, I’m going to say I regret that! But Disney gave us Rebels, so I can’t really complain. . . xD)

UPDATE: Eh, that was a little more than 15 minutes. . . but like that? It’ll look better shaded.

elvensaber2UPDATE!!!
And here we go! I hope you like it, I was so fun! I had a blast with it; it actually has 9 layers, making it my biggest digital project yet!

I wasn’t sure about the solid background, personally I like how the ombre one turned out, but that’s up to you! (Sorry for the terrible quality; I think after being saved it regenerates some of the lost pixels!)

Ahhh, it looks so amazing!!! I love her look, and I LOVE the saber hilt design!!!
I really like what you’re thinking for the hair, maybe like a color similar to the turquoise shade of Hera’s eyes? (that’s actually one of my favorite colors =D) And the padawan braid looks almost like a fishtail style, which I really really like (LOTR-style elves use fishtail braids in their hair heavily, so it’s a really cool detail)!! On the lightsaber, do you think you could do the outer layer in a really light silver, and then maybe go over the etchings with a dark green? Like, so dark green it’s almost black, but if you look really close you can tell it’s green? I’d just like to see what that would look like, it might not work at all, but it seems like a neat idea for a trial. 😀
Man, it just looks so awesome!! You did a fantastic job, I’m so excited to see it finished!!! =D =D

      Yay thankies!!!
Alright! Hehe, it’s my second favorite, with Ezra-eye (aka lapis lazuli blue) being my fav!
Heh, glad ya like it — that’s the only way I know how to draw a braid so it’s a win-win!
Ooo, that’s even better than what I was thinking!!! I’ll do that! I can do that real quick (bout 15-20 minutes) and update the post with it — just in case it doesn’t work!
      Thank you soo much!!!

YAY! I’ll go ahead and get started on the whole thing; it could take up to a week, but I highly doubt that. Probably I can get it done by Wednesday, provided an asteroid doesn’t fall on my computer. . .

Oh! I meant to ask, do you want a background with it? Basically I could do either a coordinating color or a simple design.

Hmm, I think a plain color would be nice for the background! Do you think you could also do one with the background just plain white as well?
Thanks for thinking of that, it totally would’ve slipped my mind! 😀

Ok, I think it’ll end up being he hair highlight most likely. . . of course! I always do a white background first, just so I can have it. Actually, I have no idea why I do it. 😐

That sounds great! I typically do that as well, the few times I do actually try to “art”, at least. 😉 I do it so that I still have the basic piece to use encase I ever want to do something else with it where I’ll need it without a background. (I’ve spent hours in a program like paint before trying to remove the background from a picture that’s been scanned it. It’s not really that much fun. 😐 )

I’m bout halfway done! Hehe, I know what you mean, I usually do a transparent background, and then do a diferent layer for when I need a new background for it xD
I use GIMP for all of my art, and it works FAR better than Paint did for my uses. . . There’s even a smudge tool to blend colors YAY!

        That’s great!! =D
Oh yeah, Paint get on my nerves so much sometimes. But it came free with the computer, and I don’t do a whole lot of digital drawing, so I guess I can’t complain too much. ;D

Except for the background, I think it’s pretty much done! I’ll update the post in about 10! Yeah, I just hate that it doesn’t have the blending tool xD And that the brushes aren’t that useful for details, but it works in a pinch! GIMP is free, as is another program that’s been recommended to me called Krita; I highly recommend GIMP, after a little practice it really starts to look good!
